Hey folks!
Hope you all are just having a good
swing in the festive season. With Navratris ending and Diwali gearing up, it
feels like the celebration never stopped. I guess you all are aware of Durga
Puja that Bengalis celebrate from the 6th day of Navratri till
Dashami/Dussehra. And being a Bengali I am always in my best joyous mood during
these 5 days. Being away from the roots of traditional celebrations in Kolkata,
nostalgia and memories are inseparable during this festive time. It’s like a
grand celebration. Waking up one sunny morning to the fragrance of Shiuli flowers or Night-flowering
Jasmine, wearing saree and going for pandal
hopping like there’s no tomorrow, rejuvenating for evening aarti, gulping down the egg roll & golgappas, dancing to the rhythmic dhak beats and the famous dhunuchi dance: these activities remind
me that happiness finds its way home every year.
Mahashtami i.e. the 8th day
is one of the important days of Durga Puja. And nothing could stop me from
getting clicked for my blog on that day as I chose to wear a saree! Perhaps my
most favorite ensemble and I look out for opportunities where I can drape a
saree. The Ashtami morning seems to be more special as we wake up early and do
the pushpanjali (another nostalgic
moment). I chose to wear red which is a very warm and positive color and
somehow I feel it’s the color for the DurgaAshtami; the epitome of courage. I
wore my mother’s gold ear studs to complete the look and add a little Bengali
touch.
No matter how much occupied we are, we
never forget to be a part of Ma Durga’s homecoming and create another story and
of course enjoy the Durga Puja fervor.
I shared the pictures of my look and
also some of the beautiful pictures of idols that I witnessed in Noida and Delhi.
Hope you all love it.
Until next, xoxo!
Ashmita.
